Next Meeting — December 2nd — On-Line

Subject: The Invention and Early Development of the Telephone

This month's presentation is The Invention and Early Development of the Telephone, by RaRa's President, Tim Barrett, KV2X.

The early history of the telephone from invention in the 1870s through to the development of the first telephone exchanges and expansion in the early 20th century is the subject of our December presentation. Many of the same issues that made the development of radio and the Morse telegraph so interesting are here too: initial skepticism or even disbelief that it was possible, inevitable arguments over who was the actual inventor, fights over patents, chaos from multiple companies all trying to do the same thing in different ways and eventually success which brought its own challenges.

Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (please allow for computer setup time)

Location: Web Meeting —>> Registration:

https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/830629768745514509

There are only 100 available slots and the system allows overbooking, so arrive early.

How to Attend

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. You can join audio via computer or phone. The webinar will also work on a tablet or smart phone. We recommend you join a little early to give a few minutes for the client software to install. There may be issues with older operating systems like, Windows XP or Vista, you’ll have to wrestle with that on your own or find an alternate platform.

If you need help registering or with issues you cannot resolve, please email, well prior to the meeting, to: webmaster@rochesterham.org, try not to do this the evening of the meeting. Try to arrive a little early to make sure you have everything installed and working.

You can test your system anytime by clicking on this link.
